Insurance companies typically send their own inspector, but often request that an experienced compressor engineer be present to assist with the inspection.

What is a breathing air test?

Many businesses use a compressed air system for breathing air which can be necessary when staff are working in environments such as spray paint shops. Breathing air testing to BS EN 12021:2014 (also referred to as compressed air quality testing) is essential to ensure air supplied to a worker’s air-fed helmet or other breathing apparatus is safe. Safe breathing air does not contain any contaminants at levels that can harm the user.

A breathing air test checks the level of oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, water vap our, and oil in the air. Breathing air test results need to be kept for a period of at least 5 years and it is advised that breathing air testing takes place at least every 3 months.
